The lack of hope as a destructive force is not the merest shadow of hope itself. Those with dashed hopes can be led to great acts of desperation and hatred. Those unfortunates who are without hope can never attain to the highest levels of desire nor excitement, but they also cannot be so greatly disappointed that they resort to acts of monstrosity.

Writing daily seems to have failed. Oh, well. Shit happens, rama rama ding ding, as the shirt once said.

What is it about humans that we love our diurnal cycles so much? Our circadian rhythms are so much a part of who and what we are that we are unable to function without our normal timing. Those people living on Mars time are completely out of sync with their neighbors and communities, but would things be any better if they actually lived on Mars and got to see the Sun rise and set at different times each day? Considering this, my mind spools into repercussions that make predictions about alien lifeforms ("Goldilocks zones" and whatnot) seem painfully myopic.

Another blog. That's all that this family needs, right? We have so many ill-maintained and well-ignored blogs that the last thing that we could use to make our lives complete is yet another. Well, we now have it.

Or, rather, I have it. That is a distinction worth the making. I only have one other personal blog, and it's used primarily for ranting. This one, however, is strictly for mental exercise. You see, there are a number of people who insist that physical exercise is necessary for a healthy body, and I believe that mental exercise is necessary as well.

Just as baby steps are useful in getting the body in motion, baby steps will be employed in getting my brain moving. One hundred words or more a day. The topic doesn't matter so much as the writing, and the writing is secondary to the thinking. Here we go.
